Board

Scott McNealy

Scott McNealy, Co-Founded Sun Microsystems in 1982 and served as CEO and Chairman of the Board for 22 years during which he piloted the company from startup to legendary Silicon Valley giant in computing infrastructure, network computing, and open source software. Under his watch, Sun Microsystems employed approximately 235,000 worldwide. Sun was sold to Oracle in 2010 for $7.4 billion.

McNealy is committed to innovation in technology and education and is an outspoken advocate for personal liberty and responsibility, small government, and free-market competition. He is heavily involved in advisory roles for companies that range from startup stage to large corporations. McNealy believes in the philosophy that “Without choice, you have no innovation. Gene Banman

Gene has been a serial CEO for the past 15 years having been at the helm of three companies prior to DriveScale. NetContinuum developed an application layer firewall appliance for large enterprise and web businesses and was sold to Barracuda Networks. Zero Motorcycles is the leading electric motorcycle in the world and Gene remains on the Board of Directors. ClearPower Systems designed a waste heat recovery electric power generation system and was sold to Questor Technologies. Read more.

Dr. Therese “Terry” Crane

Dr. Therese “Terry” Crane is an educational consultant who works with companies and institutions that are seeking to move through the 21st century with real solutions for challenging issues. She serves as the Senior Education Advisor to the e-Luminate Group educational technology consulting practice. Dr. Crane applies her understanding of technology to transform educational practices. Geoffrey Emery

After working for five years at major law firms in New York and California, Geoff Emery purchased a failing luxury car dealership in Beverly Hills, California, and later purchased other similarly nonperforming businesses. Twenty five years later, Beverly Hills Porsche and Santa Monica Audi are now two of the largest luxury car dealerships in the United States, collectively grossing over $300 million in revenue in 2015. Kim Jones

Kim Jones is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Curriki. Kim is active in driving policy initiatives, evidenced by her testimony before the Congressional Web based Education Commission in the USA. She is also regularly featured as an honorary speaker on the impact of technology in education at influential meetings around the world, including NCTET, WISE, the Worldwide Education & Research Conference (WWERC) in the United States, Europe, and Asia, and other key public sector forums. In addition to her role at Curriki, Kim is a member of the MIT Open Courseware Industry Advisory Council. Read more.

Charles E. Johnson

Charles E. Johnson is the Managing Director of Tano Capital in San Mateo, California. He is the former co-president of Franklin Resources, Inc. (“Franklin Templeton Investments”; NYSE: “BEN”), one of the largest publicly traded money management firms in the world. Mr. Johnson’s responsibilities included global oversight of all portfolio management, information technology, product development, mergers and acquisitions, and non-U.S. business. Phil Lebherz

Phil Lebherz has been working in the field of health insurance benefits for over 30 years. He founded LISI in 1977 with a staff of five in a small office in San Mateo, California. Today, LISI serves thousands of brokers from six fully-staffed offices statewide. His leadership in finance, acquisition and negotiations has developed LISI into one of California’s leading agencies. Read more.

Larry Nelson

Larry Nelson leads Microsoft’s Worldwide Education Partner strategy within its Public Sector Business unit, for both Primary/Secondary and Higher Education.   Previous to this role, Nelson led Microsoft’s Worldwide Primary/Secondary Education strategy.  Prior to joining Microsoft, Nelson led strategic planning of telecom services for the University Librarian at Stanford University, and before that, he was a Director at Sun Microsystems where he also served as acting Executive Director of the Global Education & Learning Community (GELC, now known as Curriki) where he managed the creation of GELC as an independent nonprofit corporation. Read more.

Kim Jones

Janet Pinto

As Chief Academic Officer & Director of Product Development, Janet Pinto leads and manages all of Curriki’s content development, user experience, and academic direction. She began her career in the education field, spending six years as a Special Education teacher. Janet now leads the vision and strategy for Curriki’s online learning offerings and develops and maintains relationships with academic partners. In addition, Janet oversees all Professional Development and implementation. Read more.

Bob Greenawalt

Bob has spent his 20+ year technology career in a wide variety of application development and management positions, including a substantial amount of focused on education. He has also been a faculty member at West Point, where he taught in the Computer Science department, and has held several other computer science adjunct teaching positions. Read more.

Kate Z. Driscoll Leone

Kate brings decades of experience in high technology sales, business development and leadership with a passion for education to Curriki.

Most recently Kate was VP of Sales and Business Development for Five9 Network Systems selling customer solutions and appliances. Kate had a 20 year career with Sun Microsystems and Oracle. Upon the Oracle acquisition, Kate filled the leadership role as Group Vice President for North America Commercial Hardware for the US Financial Services Area. Read more.
