This is my introductory lesson in Quadratics. It introduces students to the idea of situations where the rate of change is not constant, beginning with an interesting story problem about Facebook. How can you tell when the graph of a situation will NOT make a line? What kinds of situations would be like that? This lesson begins explores quadratic models, and then develops the idea of first and second differences. It concludes with the quadratic characteristic of a constant second difference.
