Altered Shoe Currciulum: ?If the Shoe Fits? Written by Jennifer Barron & Deborah Ryder, Art Teachers, Kennedy High School, Chicago, IL.Students painted, assembled, and altered shoes with materials they found in the art room or brought from home. This curriculum was inspired by the transformation of everyday items, such as discarded materials, into art by self-taught and folk artists. A field trip to the House of Blues exposed the students to art objects made from non-traditional and recycled materials. This project transformed these castoff shoes into objects worthy of consideration.
