The rain forest of the Amazon is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world. River turtles, like this one in Manu Park, Peru, interact with species as diverse as monkeys, caimans (reptiles related to crocodiles and alligators), thousands of birds, and even freshwater dolphins. The butterflies interacting with this river turtle have a lot of company there are more than two million insect species indigenous to the Amazon rain forest.
