This lessons builds on the previous lesson on the Platonic Solids as part of a larger unit on Geometry. As a culmination and continuation of the study of basic plane geometry by the 7th grade, this unit explores the world of the regular geometric solids known as the Archimedean solids. Students will explore the basic geometry by using Stella software (or web-based interactive media) and then build them using plain paper and a system of tabs through trial-and-error and informed predictions for placement of the tabs to aid in construction.
