Lesson plan #3.Students will explore and question the validity of the traditional concepts of race in American, and consider the concept the ethnicity as an alternative. Students will consider the consequences of differentiating and categorizing the human family in terms of the prejudices they create that can lead to violent conflict. Having an understanding of how our culture has taught us to use arbitrary characteristic to define and label people will give students a new perspective on the meaning and reality of "race". This understanding will contribute to a more positive worldview and a more educated position of human diversity which will break down stereotypes and prejudice, as well as give students examples of what can results from these misgivings: violent conflict
