ANIMAL AND PLANT CELLS
This resource was reviewed using the Curriki Review rubric and received an overall Curriki Review System rating of 2, as of 2012-04-01.
This lesson introduces the similarities and differences between plant and animal cells. It begins with a really great hook to engage students by talking about the causes of food poisoning. This is a great way to begin discussion on the function of cells. After lecture, students have the opportunity to create their own cells. This is a great way to engage students and really engage the kinesthetic learners. Each student has a role, which creates accountability and encourages students to participate. There is also a chance for peer assessment once the project is complete and the work is presented. This lesson also provides a quick post-quiz for another way of assessing student understanding.
