The food we generally eat are in the form of big molecules as a result their absorption into the animal body is difficult. Thus it requires breaking down of these big molecules into small ones. The process in which the food containing large,insoluble molecules is broken down into the small ,water soluble molecules (which can be absorbed by the body) which are later absorbed from intestine and transported to cells through blood for utilisation.
