This beautiful handout promotes a series of school programs that feature different “creatures” each month. For example, September’s focus is on snakes, and October’s focus is on turtles. For each month, the procedure reads similarly. Students will generate questions, and then participate in an animal visit. If the animal handler cannot answer a particular question, students are expected to use their resources to come up with the answer. The procedure is well organized, but lacks specificity. The Creature Feature would require considerable preparation by the classroom teacher looking to implement this activity in his or her classroom.
