This resource has been contributed by Winpossible, and can also be accessed on their website by clicking here - Distributing multiplication of a monomial with a 2nd degree polynomial
In this mini-lesson, you'll learn how to multiply a monomial with a polynomial. To find the product of a monomial with a polynomial, we use the distributive property and then combine like terms to get the answer. For example, when monomial 2x and second degree polynomial (x2
+ 4x + 4) are multiplied, it simplifies to 2x3
+ 8x. Generally speaking, when multiplying polynomials, we multiply the coefficients and add the exponents, and if we have parentheses, we use the distributive property.
