The African Savannah is vast, diverse and is home to some of the most distinctive biodiversity in the world. While the flora and fauna ranges across Africa, the continent is host to many species including, but not limited to, the African elephant, the zebra, the flamingo, termite mounds, and diverse species of gazelles. The extent of diversity within an ecosystem is related to the topography, the vegetation, and the amount of water it receives.
