Beginning the 2015-2016 academic year, New York State has instituted a new set of regulations with regard to English Language Learners (ELLs). The goal of the changes and adjustments that have been made in the regulations is to further assist ELLs on their pathway to academic success. Curriculum writers will focus on familiarizing themselves with English Language Arts curriculum at appropriate levels and gather, tailor, and create materials appropriate for English Language Learners. Teachers who will also be co-teaching Integrated courses in Social Studies and Science will familiarize themselves with curricula as well as gather, tailor, and create materials appropriate for ELLs in these areas.
