These are the lessons for Week One in a trimester-long unit in which 3rd Grade will explore the countries of either Nicaragua (Dragonflies), the Dominican Republic (Caiman), or Puerto Rico (Coati). These explorations will serve as a framework in which we will also be learning vocabulary related to houses and games/commands. Each homeroom will be assigned a different Latin American Country which they will explore during the 2nd trimester. At the end of the trimester we will be having a gathering at the Annex Building at which each homeroom will make a presentation on their country.Fourth and Fifth Grade will be exploring other countries at the same time and will also be making presentations. Each grade will be using the framework of their country to explore two of the following themes: houses, clothing, songs and games, and food. We will be learning basic Spanish vocabulary related to these themes on Day 1 of each week and then use that vocabulary to explore different cultural elements of their assigned country on Day 2.
