The primary goal of this CAP is to create a quarter long Social Studies Research course for Middle School students that demonstrates the New York State Social Studies Standards, as well as the Common Core Standards. At the end of each marking period, student will generate a research project. On the path to creating a research project students will research a topic of their choice, which promotes the students to have a personal investment in the project. Additionally, they will develop research skills as they act as historians discovering how to uncover primary sources, build historical context and form historical interpretations. In the end, students will become experts on their research topic.
