This lesson will cover at least two class periods. In this lesson, students will use their newfound checkwriting skills to play “The Game of Real Life”, in which they will draw random cards detailing expenses and windfalls. They write checks for each of these events and keep their balance current in their ledger. At the end of the second or third class period, each student will be scored by his/her partner – they will have points deducted for mistakes either in checkwriting form or in math. There is a bonus for the student that ends with the highest and with the lowest balance. The student with the most points wins!
