This guide and series of charts was developed by the Great Public Schools (GPS) Indicators Project to serve as a framework of indicators for policymakers, educators, and advocates to use in order to analyze state policies, practices, and outcomes related to how well these states and districts address areas critical to the success of public schools. The chart is divided into the following seven criteria, representing general areas deemed critical to the success of public schools: 1) School Readiness; 2) Standards and Curriculum; 3) Conditions of Teaching and Learning; 4) Workforce Quality; 5) Accountability and Assessments; 6) Family and Community Engagement; and, 7) School Funding. Each of these seven criteria is divided into sub-criteria under which indicators are listed.
The criterion involving Accountability and Assessments may be of particular interest to members of this Assessment of Student Learning group.
