This wonderful resource offering tips for new teachers is a “parent” to an eleven part collection. The first “child,” Organizing Your Year, is a link to Learn NC, a University of North Carolina website designed to help new teachers organize their classrooms, provide templates for paperwork and questionnaires to get to know students, offer advice for communication with parents, etc. etc. The second “child” is a link to an external site providing helpful, fun and engaging activities for the first days of school. The other “children” offer guidance for new teachers in how to teach and how to help students learn, provides access to excellent curriculum, and directs teachers to supportive articles and information. The last “child” is a complete resource in itself, providing materials that look at multiple intelligences, critical and creative thinking, assessment as learning, Harvard rubrics and organizers, handouts, and instructional materials for Teaching for Understanding and Understanding by Design.
