This resource is an animated short film created by a then-high-school student Kevin Tremmer (http://www.kevintemmer.com/About). Two characters, Jack and Jessica, walk through the steps of preparing for a science fair in an engaging and clear way. This video does a particularly nice job discussing the types of variables and letting students know what they should expect out of the entire process. Though engaging, this resource is certainly supplementary. It might be used as an introduction to or reinforcement during a more elaborate science fair preparation process.
I've used this video as an introduction before the science fair, and as reinforcement about a third of the way through the process. The middle school like to think it is silly, but can't deny the information is helpful!
