5. Materials: calculators; the sports page for consecutive days - these can be supplied by the instructor in class or set as an outside activity.

7. Description: Using systems of equations, students will determine the missing components in the ratios used to determine batting average.

The amount of explanation necessary will depend on the studentâ??s familiarity with the game of baseball.
Students can be asked to share their findings.
Take the students to a school baseball game and have them do the stats.
