The REACH Program is an ungraded special education program for students with developmental disabilities from 5 to 21. This “Life Skills / Pre-vocational Curriculum” has been developed to increase the post-secondary employment opportunities for REACH students by teaching them necessary skills. While the curriculum was intended to target students in the High and Middle School classes of the REACH Program, components will be appropriate for Elementary aged students as well. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Discrete Trial Training (DTT) teaching methods are utilized across three pre-vocational domains: Custodial Skills, Clerical Skills, and School Store Skills. Each pre-vocational domain corresponds directly with an internship or vocational opportunity available to students in the REACH Program at W. T. Clarke High School. This curriculum is designed to be implemented by teachers and teacher’s aides that have been trained in ABA and DTT principles. The curriculum links to Common Core State Standards Initiative to promote independence and productivity in students.
