A webquest exploring Readers Theater and the benefits of digital storytelling.Teacher page Introduction This child-centered activity was designed to raise students awareness of Reader's Theater. The final goal is production of Reader's Theatre. Reader's Theatre increases reading fluency, sight-word vocabulary, and comprehension. It also helps student understand dialogue, communicate meaning and appreciation of literature. By videotaping the performance you will have the opportunity to share your students work with them and their parents. Adding the use of technology to your classroom is becoming increasingly important. Digital storytelling helps students explore the meaning of their own experience, give value to it, and communicate that experience on multiple levels to others. Many of today's classrooms are implementing differentiated teaching strategies, which is about meeting students where they are. Reader's Theatre works by allowing teachers to structure the lesson around the variety of learning styles, interests, and abilities found within the classroom. Learner This lesson is anchored in grade 3 level language arts. Students develop reading fluency and increased motivation for reading through this dramatic activity. Reader's Theatre can be easily adapted to all grade levels.
