A lesson plan for an eighth grade history class.Students will serve as an introduction to the concepts of primary and secondary sources as a way to understand the views of those who experienced historical events. Students will watch a video clip—including primary and secondary accounts—of a key event in American history. Students will then engage in classroom discussion about the concepts of primary and secondary sources before working in groups of 4 to 5 to construct their own narrative of an event based on primary and secondary sources.
