This lesson does a great job at trying to set up an authentic problem that incorporates a lot of collaboration. I also like how the number lines were incorporated to give students a better conceptual understanding. The lesson could be stronger using a more in-depth problem for students to explore and apply their computational skills. It would be neat for students to make web-site or action plan to address a real environmental and go more in-depth than the example of the duck and the ponds.
This lesson is very detail and provides students, for the most part, a guideline for what is expected. However, there are few issues with it. First, there is a lack of modifications included for struggling students. For example, we don't know if writing an equation is a prior knowledge that students might have before this lesson. The biggest issue is the prior knowledge, have students worked on the computers to solve similar problems before? Overall, good lesson however it needs a few modifications.
