Students will investigate the novel in two major ways: a close reading of the novel through a mixture of group and independent study and thematic writing extension assignments. The unit products include ongoing reading responses, weekly exams, character diaries and a symbolism poem.Note for teachers: The lesson plans in this novel unit include objectives that the students should attain after working through the lesson.
