The most fascinating material preserved by bogs are probably "bog bodies," the remains of human beings. Bog bodies are remarkably well-preserved. Tollund Man, above, looks like he just lay down for a nap, although he died in the 300s BCE in rural Denmark. Like most bog bodies, Tollund Man met a violent death, and his body was preserved with the noose that killed him still around his neck.
