Lesson Plan 3 Students will be split into groups and then be assigned a document or painting of an important event leading up to the Civil War. We will tell them the name of the document, or tell them what event the painting is portraying, and then leave students to their own devices to compose a comprehensive summary of the document, using a basic Who/What/Where/When/Why format and describing how it helped lead to the beginning of the Civil War. We will ask them to write it on a Powerpoint slide, next to an image of their assigned document.
