Another unique aspect of the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) program is the commitment by the user community to support its use by others. This includes technical and operational support as well as software programming development. One example where this phenomena is aptly demonstrated is through the formation of local OLPC Learning Clubs. These ad hoc groups of users "plan and promote meetings" to share their experiences and expertise and come together as a community. An important part of each meeting is to provide the technological environment to exercise the collaborative functionality inherent in the laptop's wireless mesh network.Nortel LearniT was pleased to host a recent meeting of the Washington DC - OLPC Learning Club. Hear the event organizers and participants describe the event and how they got started.
