Professional Development

Curriki Professional Development is an easy and convenient way to learn more about Curriki. We offer both free and paid options for training on every feature of Curriki, as well as ways to incorporate Curriki Open Educational Resources into your classroom, school, library, and district. Start by visiting our library of free Tutorial Videos. 

Curriki Professional Development Workshops focus on innovative concepts and practices related to open education curriculum, and digital and social learning. Curriki will show you how to use Open Educational Resources (OERs) with simple, step-by-step tools.

Each workshop can be delivered face to face at your facility, asynchronously online, or as a hybrid of the two delivery methods.

Introduction to Open Educational Resources (OERs)

During this six-hour workshop covering Open Educational Resources (OERs) as alternatives to textbooks for K-12 teachers, participants will learn how OERs lower costs and broaden the use of alternatives to textbooks while maintaining instructional quality.

Introduction to Digital Copyrights

In this six-hour session, participants will be introduced to various aspects of digital copyrights, including free models of distribution, types of licenses, the importance of applying digital copyrights, and how to correctly attribute a digitally licensed work.

Using Curriki and OERs to Enhance Curriculum Design

This six-hour workshop is designed for teachers who want to learn how to use OERs to enhance their classroom curriculum and to collaborate with other teachers. At the end of the workshop each participant will have created at least one unit of study. Participants will also learn how they can contribute resources to Curriki.

Publishing OERs on Curriki

During this six-hour workshop participants will learn how to publish a variety of instructional materials and media, including an instructional video, a lesson plan written in text, a recording of a lecture, an interactive learning exercise designed in Flash, a Zip archive containing an entire course’s reference material, and more, on Curriki. Each participant will create a personal collection of resources from their published resources.

Collaboration with Curriki Groups

This six-hour workshop will introduce teachers to the use of Curriki for selecting and creating curricula from Curriki and other OERs. Participants will learn how to find, edit and “mix and remix” resources. At the end of the workshop each participant will have created at least one unit of study. The workshop will provide instruction for building customized content using Curriki.
