As a member of Curriki's Board of Directors, Larry Nelson will help uphold the company's mission to help bridge the Education Divide. Currently, Nelson is the Senior Global Group Manager of Sales Operations for Sun Microsystems, Inc.'s Global Education, Government and Healthcare Line of Business. Prior to this role, Nelson was Director of Collaboration and Acting Executive Director of the Global Education & Learning Community (GELC), an independent non-profit organization established by Sun Microsystems in 2005. GELC was spun off in 2006 as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit and renamed as Curriki – the Global Education & Learning Community. Prior to this post, Nelson was responsible for Sun's K–12 strategy and solution partnerships. Prior to joining Sun, Nelson was Vice President of Marketing & Finance at SchoolCity.com where he managed marketing, business development, telemarketing, and sales. Before joining SchoolCity.com, Nelson was President and CEO of Decision Development Corporation (DDC), a privately held educational software and Internet publisher. He also worked for General Foods, the Procter & Gamble Company, and Bloomingdales. Nelson earned his M.B.A. from Cornell University in 1987 and his A.B. in political science from Vassar College in 1983.
