Building a Global Learning Network: One Laptop at a Time

Our partnership is built upon a digital library of lesson plans and multimedia tools such as:

  • Nortel LearniT's 6ES lesson plans, video tutorials, and resources and best practices
  • an evolving storehouse of the individual creations of learners and their teachers
  • the assets of global digital libraries and information repositories

Resources for using the XO

Nortel LearniT has prepared for the web and compiled some guides for using the XO and learning about its open source environment:

Nortel is a founding partner of OLPC. (learn more about this partnership).

Overview of the XO:

  • is designed to be used outdoors in bright sunlight
  • can be charged with a solar panel or a crank on a bicycle
  • can even survive being dropped.

The keyboard is small enough for child-size fingers and gives them monitors that let them look out on a larger world of learning!
