Lesson 41: Conic Sections: Ellipses
Description:Beginning with a general introduction to conics and how they are formed, circles are first presented and then ellipses are motivated by looking at the general equation of a circle centered at the origin. After central ellipses, translated ellipses are discussed, followed by a procedure for writing the equation of the ellipse in standard form. The lesson concludes with a procedure for finding the equation of an ellipse given its vertices.
