Mystery Number
Description:Students are put into groups and each group is given one card from the sheet attached. Each card contains a different clue to the number the students are investigating. Groups are allowed to read their cards out loud, but they may not show their cards to any other group. By talking to all of the other groups, each student will be able to find the mystery number.

2x2 Systems
Description:In this assignment you will study what happens to the solution of a system of two equations in two unknowns when one of the coefficients in the system is changed. The calculations are highly repetitive and you might want to consider creating a program for the TI 83 or using Excel to solve the systems.

Math Bingo
Description:This is a version of the classic board game BINGO. But instead of simply reading out the numbers, the caller gives a math clue to a number that appears on the BINGO board. This is a great way to review a wide array of algebra topics, from percents, to mixture problems, to solving equations.

Balance Problems
Description:Students are given a worksheet to build skills that will help with solving equations and systems of equations. This sheet involves no numbers, just symbols, so that students are not distracted by the nomenclature of algebraic expressions, and can focus on building equation solving intuition. The columns of problems get increasingly more challenging as they go on. It is suggested that the students work on the more difficult problems in pairs or small groups.
