Description:Riffat Sultana and Sukhawat Ali Khan are sister and brother Sufi singers from Pakistan. They represent the current generation of a family with hundreds of years of tradition in singing sacred music. And Riffat is the first woman in that tradition who has been allowed to sing publicly. These video clips are from the program Travels with Music Series One, which is available online at www.travelswithmusic.org. There are nearly 300 video clips in this first series of the Travels with Music program that profiles master musicians from 15 cultures around the world: USA/Blues, Trinidad, Peru, Chile, Senegal, Nigeria, Morocco, Bulgaria/Rom, Israel, Arabic/Lebanon, Pakistan, India, Indonesia/Java, Philippines, and China. The whole program is available at the online store (www.travelswithmusic.org) and can be purchased for online access or on interactive DVD-ROM for computers or on DVD-video for television.

Description:Riffat Sultana comes from a family of musicians. She is the daughter of the late Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, who is known as the finest Pakistani Classical singer of his time. Riffat's mother, Razia, is also a gifted vocalist from India, descending from a line of highly respected Punjabi classical musicians. Riffat Salamat Sultana is the first woman from her family allowed to publicly perform in the west. She has collaborated with musicians from all over the world.
