This framework explains the scope and focus of Unit 3 of the Wyoming Sixth-grade Curriculum. Using the organizing principle of Backwards Design, the framework explains: 1) What students should be able to do at the end of this lesson; what connections with other content areas the unit makes; what vocabulary students should know at the end of the unit; what language structures (grammar) and what cultural knowledge students should acquire in the unit; and (2) How students will demonstrate what they know and can do at the end of the unit (assessments). The lessons and materials that follow the framework will prepare the students to meet the objectives of the unit in those assessments. The framework also explains what each lesson in this unit will include.
