I think Curriki has done a great job of making access to a huge amount of information pretty user friendly, but I'm finding that going back to a previous screen is not as easy. There is aline of 'cookies' but that doesn't really follow my path and when I move outside of Curriki when I go to some of the content links I really struggle to return. Are there any plans for improving this?
It sounds like you are experiencing two separate problems, so let me answer them one at a time.
The breadcrumb, that line of cookies you mentioned, may be different than other sites you are used to. While some sites do display the exact path you have taken to a page, the loose structure of Curriki's content repository doesn't allow us to do so without causing a lot of confusion. Because of this, Curriki's breadcrumb works in 2 distinct modes:
1. Any pages you see that are not resources have a fairly straightforward hierarchy and can display a path more like what you might be used to from other sites. For instance, if you are navigating through a Group area, you will see that the first listing in the breadcrumb remains on the Group's name, the next link displays the tab you are viewing, and any additional links in the breadcrumb show you the action you have selected.
2. Any pages you view that are learning resources will display a path through the collection that contains that resource down to the page you are currently viewing.
So for instance, if you are navigating through a Group space to find some great content they have contributed, your breadcrumb will reflect the 1st mode until you have selected a specific resource, then will switch to the 2nd mode.
If a page links to an external site, then Curriki is no longer able to display a breadcrumb to help with navigation. For the time being, your browser's back button is your best option to return you to your spot on Curriki. In addition, though, I'm happy to tell you that we are planning improvements for this.
In our next functionality release, resources pointing to external links (such as this one: http://www.curriki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Coll_Bookwink/Bookwinkvideobooktalksforkids) will be more easily identifiable so that you know they will take you somewhere outside of Curriki's site. In addition to a new design, external links will be set to always open a new browser window. This will allow you to view the recommended site while maintaining your place on Curriki in your original browser window. These improvements are currently scheduled for release next year in late February or early March.
Thanks again for using Curriki and giving us your feedback!

I downloaded Cool School, but when I try to extract it, I get a message saying it is password protected. How can I find the password I need to try the program?
I'm trying to find a member who is Melissa from Chicago. I became a member today as a result of another website where she suggested this site. I'm really interested in returning back to that site that had lots of info about reading.
