How to Report a Problem

Every once in a while, problems happen. If you experience strange behavior on the site, you may be experiencing what we call a ‘bug’—an error in the functionality that should be fixed. Read on or watch the video tutorial "How to Fix or Report a Problem" to resolve your bug.

Some bugs are minor and may be caused by settings on your machine or problems with your Internet connection.  If it's been a while since you've accessed Curriki, try these steps first:

1.    Try logging out and back in again.

2.    Close out of your browser session (i.e., close Firefox or Internet Explorer or Safari) and reopen the page in a new browser window.

3.    Refresh your cache of temporary Internet files and delete your cookies. The setting for this, sometimes called 'Offline Storage' or included with 'Private Information,' is usually found in the Tools or Preferences menu.

4.    You may need to lower the amount of offline storage that is cached on your machine.  In the ‘Offline Storage’ or ‘Private Information’ area, check that the amount of offline storage is low—preferably 1MB.

5.    Ensure that JavaScript (JS) is enabled, then clear out your browser's cache and cookies again (see step 3). This website has step-by-step instructions to enable Javascript for different browsers: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/howtoscript.

If you try all these things and continue to experience the problem, the next step is to gather some information about your problem. In order to help you resolve the issue, Curriki will need to know:

1.    What browser (and its version number) are you using (i.e., Firefox 3, Safari, or Internet Explorer 7)?  If you are not sure, this information is usually available from the Help menu, under ‘About’.

2.    What operating system do you have? (i.e., Windows XP or Mac OS 10+)

3.    What page of the website were you on? Copy & paste the URL from the address bar at the top of the browser window, e.g., http://www.curriki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome

4.    What exactly were you doing when you experienced the problem? Please describe the steps you took in as much detail as possible, including:
     a.    Were you logged in?
     b.    Did you enter specific terms in the page?
     c.    Did you click a specific button?
     d.    Did you wait between steps?

5.    If possible, include a screenshot of the problem (on a PC, pres Ctrl + Print Screen; on a Mac, press Apple key + Shift + 3).

Once you have this information together, simply email it to webmaster@curriki.org. We will attempt to duplicate the issue and then diagnose and correct it.

You can also check the list of known issues in the Help Collection to see if yours has already been reported.
