Math and science tutor who's method has helped many teachers understand new ways of getting through to students.
I am a first year teacher in Alberta, Canada, teaching students primarily in grade 7 and 8. My core subject is grade 8 Humanities (Language Arts and Social Studies). I also teach grade 7 French. While I love being a teacher, I have obviously come upon several challenges. I would love to exchange ideas and receive advice from more experienced teachers so that I may improve.

Beau Newton (Contributor/Participant)
My name is Beau Newton and I am a first year teacher in Phoenix, AZ. I graduated with must BS of Scondary English Education from Northern Arizona University, and teach sophomore English. I am loving my job, but have struggles with getting through to my students with academic focuses. I have been building wonderful relationships with my students, but the content seems too hard for them always!! I don't know if it it me, or the standards, but I cannot help hut feel like something is wrong! I am joining this group to learn how other teachers make their content more accessible to their students, and maybe vent some frustrations I face every once in a while :)
I'm at the beginning of a 'next step' in my fledgling career as an arts educator: from 2001 to 2007, I taught art history and art appreciation to high schoolers as part of Pratt Institute's Summer Pre-College Program. This summer (2008), I will be co-teaching a combined studio art/art history course (which will earn the students three college credits) at the School of Visual Arts. I was recently accepted into Brooklyn College's Art Education (K-12) program and will work towards gaining certification as an art instructor in New York State. I'm excited by the opportunity to expand upon my existing experience as an arts educator.

In my 'off-time," I am a painter (mainly abstraction), writer (working on a limited-series comic book) and musician (I rap). It's your call as to whether I'm a polymath, a Renaissance man, a jack-of-all-trades, or a gadfly!

I am a relatively new teacher. I want to learn and share with my peers to make life easier for all of us!
