OERi - Open Educational Resources integration

OERi - Open Educational Resources integration

A group for university professors who work with in-service or pre-service teachers to integrate OER into their curriculum and instruction, methodologies or instructional design courses.

Welcome

Our charge is as follows:

Goal:

Curriki believes that teachers at colleges of education are an excellent target audience for the OER movement. These individuals are largely from a generation who is more comfortable using technology resources and has an awareness of open source content and content sharing via the internet. Furthermore, if teachers are introduced to OER at an early stage in their career, they will be more likely to incorporate these resources into their teaching practice. By working with professors of education, Curriki can ensure that individuals with a knowledge of student needs and interests, curricular design and the OER movement will create courses that address the learning needs of pre-service and in-service teachers.

Outcome:
The final product of this project is three parts (though not all of the professors have to participate in each part of the project).

  • Part 1: Professors will design a 4-week unit in OER
  • Part 2: Professors (at least one) will actually use this course with their pre-service or in-service students.
  • Part 3: Professors will collaborate to develop one cohesive course on OER using Curriki to distribute to Schools of Education.
