The nut doesn't fall far from the tree. I wonder if my children are as outwardly embarrassed by (though secretly proud of) all of my environmental doings as I was of my own mother's. Yes, it's been a lifelong quest to gently educate and gather support from anyone within my reach to stop polluting everything on this planet! Realizing that kids will help out first, I have started various programs within our schools to help get the adults on board. From recycling household batteries, souls4souls(shoe recycling), books, school supplies, etc… to recycling juice pouches, etc. with Terracycle, our community is slowly getting on board. "We can't shop our way out of this!" is one of the all time best statements out there! Once you start to recycle, you realize this and begin to accumulate less. I love helping and watching this process unfold in my community!

I am a parent volunteer who began our elementary after school Green Team club. We started collecting items and sending them to TerraCycle this fall with great success. I'm looking to expand our Green Team activities and present some fun lessons in the monthly 1 hour meetings we have.
