Jane Eyre Unit
I use this unit in AP English Language and Composition (11th and 12th graders). This includes some background information, quizzes, and a writing prompt for the final essay.
Literature Symbolism Analysis Project
For this project, students analyze the symbolism in a play or novel they have read.
Satire Unit
I use this in my AP English Language and Composition to teach the basics of reading and understanding satire.

This unit includes games, notes, quizzes, lessons, and assignments.

Socratic Seminars
Socratic Seminar is a way to have a structured class discussion about a reading assignment or other topic of interest. The concept is based on Socrates' teaching methods and is an effective way to engage all students and to encourage multiple perspectives in a respectful environment. I use the following items in many of my Language Arts Classes to introduce the concepts of the Socratic Seminar, to execute the seminars, and to rate students' work. These materials can be easily adapted to fit other content areas.

This resource is part of the English 10 course.

Words Commonly Confused (Homonyms) Unit
This unit will help students to avoid common errors in their writing related to homonyms and other words commonly confused.

Antigone Unit
The following is my collection of materials for teaching Sophocles' play Antigone to a 10th grade English class. I teach from McDougal-Littel's text The Language of Literature, so some items are indicative of this.

This collection includes activities, study guides, projects, quizzes, tests, and answer keys.

This resource is part of the English 10 course.
