I studied creative writing and published some poems. Then I decided to  get all up in education's grill. I'm currently a doctoral student in the Learning Sciences program at Indiana  University.

  • Bio:

I have had the fantastic opportunity to teach 5th graders for the past 12 years. It is so great to prepare the children for life in junior high! I find that the longer I teach the more challenging it becomes because students enter my classroom with such a wide variety of learning styles and abilities. With this in mind, I have found it extremely beneficial to continually be incorporating new and exciting ideas into the curriculum. Currently my students and I are working intensely with Chromebooks to help prepare students for their futures. It has been thrilling to watch their minds and ideas open up with this new technology. Reading and writing are such key components of life that I focus heavily on the 6 Traits of Writing, as well as the reading strategies to teach students to be thinkers!
