I have been a public school teacher for 9 years. This is my 3rd year teaching fifth grade at Fitzpatrick Elementary School. I hold a certificate in Leadership with an endorsement that reflects the Highly-Qualified Teacher Eligibility in Core Academic Subjects including Reading. I have served on several committees within my school. After attending professional development workshops on CCSS, I was excited about the implementation within my classroom. The students were challenged and I enjoyed spending time seeking ideas for lessons. I believe that CCSS will prepare our students to academically compete across the world. Students can look forward to entering college and the workforce with a common set of skills. I am very excited about serving as facilitator for the GPS Network Community. Teachers have the opportunity to implement new teaching strategies using the CCSS. I have learned so much as I collaborate with my colleagues, we review the standards, test data, and lesson plans to ensure that students learn the necessary skills needed to achieve the CCSS. I am looking forward to sharing ideas as I facilitate online conversations about the Common Core Standards with other educators around the country. I currently serve as the President of the Montgomery County Education Association, Public Relations Coordinator for Beta Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, and the Secretary for the Tuskegee Chapter of the Links Incorporate.
