Stephen Perrenod has been involved in high performance computing and scientific computing for over 25 years. He recently led the HPC business for Sun Microsystems and Oracle across the Asia-Pacific region. He has served as VP, Worldwide Sales and Marketing at cluster optimization software startup eXludus, and at Cray Research and SGI in a variety of technical and marketing roles. He was also Strategic Marketing Director at Alliant Computer Systems, and a scientific software designer at Sohio Petroleum. Prior to his career in HPC he worked as a theoretical and observational astronomer at Kitt Peak National Observatory and at the University of Illinois.
Dr. Perrenod is the author of the cosmology e-book Dark Matter, Dark Energy, Dark Gravity and of the darkmatterdarkenergy.com blog. He has been a frequent public speaker on HPC, Grid and Cloud Computing topics, is the author of over 20 scientific research papers, and holds a B.S. degree in Physics from M.I.T. and Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Astronomy (Astrophysics) from Harvard University.
