I used this activity and liked it. It allowed the students to think about how to manipulate integers in the context of their every day life. Several made mistakes when finding the difference and I made them think about whether their answer made sense.

I would like to note that it definitely took me longer than 15 minutes....more like 30 minutes

Since this is a prealgebra course, I do not allow calculators for this activity.

There are answers for the first set of questions as this is an example. If it is not needed, the answers can easily be removed to make it the first problem.
