Reviewer Comments:

This outstanding resource is a complete guide in best practice to teach the novel 1984. This parent resource offers 12 children in pre-reading, during reading and post reading support, beginning with a well crafted anticipation guide and a PPT providing background information on George Orwell. It includes several study guides with probing critical questions to guide the student through the text and help him or her to keep track of major events, characters, themes and information from the novel. For during reading strategies, guidelines are provided for literature circles (as well as 1984 Society Group Rules and Roles. Writing assignments are included, some of which ask the student to do research on privacy or public opinion. Finally, a final project with a rubric is offered, as well as a link to a final parody of 1984 offered on Youtube.
