8.G.7 The task challenges a student to demonstrate understanding of the concepts of area  and perimeter of a complex figure. A student must understand the difference between  area and perimeter.  A student must make sense of the relationship between squares  and triangles to determine the area of this complex shape.  A student must make  sense of the Pythagorean Theorem to find the distance of the side of right triangles in  the complex figure in order to determine the perimeter of the complex shape.
