Description:

This case study uses the example of Pluto: how do we determine what a planet is? The lesson compares orbital parameters like semi-major axis, orbital period and orbital resonance of different planets. The material would be appropriate for high school or lower level undergraduate classes. The case study and teaching notes may be downloaded in PDF format. The site also includes a section for instructor feedback where general comments may be read and contributed.
