Description:

This article describes the instructional methods and media used to implement a self-paced, independent study, three-semester introductory physics course. The effectiveness of the first of these three courses was evaluated using experimental and control groups. The results of this experiment, along with the results of less quantitative evaluations, are given and discussed.
