This web page features a video explanation of the 216 topics included in the high school ALEKS "pie". The written explanations provided on the ALEKS website are helpful, but many Digital Native students prefer to watch videos rather than read through a detailed eplanation. The videos are streamed on the website www.screenr.com and can also be downloaded.

Reviewer Comments:

This complex parent resource contains 6 parts or children, two of which have been previously reviewed. Under the collection of Independence Day, the first part of this resource is a School House Rock animation depicting the history of the English colonists and their relationship with England. The second is a 56 page resource for educators entitled Bottom Billion: Development for the Most Volatile Places on Earth by Paul Collier. This document provides myriad internet resources ranging from the US Institute of Peace to BBC news on Niger to opportunities for volunteers at a variety of global organizations. This document has rich lesson plans replete with interactive simulations and activities. The third part of this resource is a presentation on the Declaration of Independence noted for AP US History. The fourth and fifth parts have already been reviewed; one on historical fiction, the other on revolution and expansion. The final part of this resource is a WebQuest entitled Tripping through Pennsylvania. Students are asked to choose a city and conduct their research as: biographer, meteorologist/geographer, and demographer. There is a rubric for evaluation at the end.
