Released on January 23, 2001, this report from the National Research Council finds that too few American children "are leaving elementary and middle school with adequate math skills and understanding." The report strongly recommends major reforms in math instruction, curricula, and assessment from pre-kindergarten through grade 8. The full text of the 444-page report may be read by chapter in .pdf format at the National Academy Press site.
